The Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival Foundation and subsequent "Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival" campaigns are based around the core principles of Awareness and empowerment. We seek to provide more information to the general public to smash the myths and stigmas that still exist about this condition, even in today's modern world. By doing so, we also hope to provide a platform for greater acceptance of those suffering the condition, help others understand what they go through on a day to day basis, and destroy the common barrier of isolation that all too often stands in front of those suffering from Epilepsy.
Based in Los Angeles, USA - our group does a lot of work within the community but a huge focus of our efforts are online using international Awareness campaigns as a tool to enlighten and support others. We are a 100% non-profit organisation & not supported by any corporate or government entities - but do work in conjunction with other international Epilepsy Organisations on certain joint campaigns and efforts. Our foundation is also registered with, and fully supported by, the Epilepsy Connections Affiliated (ECA) international Epilepsy charity organisation - giving us greater access to online services and connections with other like-minded charities from around to world to help support our cause.
BRAINSTORMING EPILEPSY FESTIVAL
Operations & Mandates
After many years of hard work by our founder Stacii Floyd (both online and in the community) creating the Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival Foundation and making the "Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival" Awareness campaigns a world recognised symbol - we decided to expand in 2018 / 2019. After more contact and recognition from international Epilepsy charities - it was decided that it was time to move to a global level.
But this can be difficult. To do this normally requires merging with a much larger charity, gaining donations or sponsorship from Corporations or Government bodies... and this can lead to a loss of independence. As Epilepsy Festival was based on - and has prospered by - free thinking and independent awareness based activities?
We wanted to make sure our values, goals, and the trust / faith placed in us by our supporters remained protected.
Our strategy was not to follow these "standard" pathways of expansion and instead look for a way to streamline all of our multiple online platforms - from our Founders emphatic video posts on Awareness, to our community exploits, and what we would do into the future as we expanded.
Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival became connected with numerous charities, organisations and groups during 2018 as our reputation grew, and we were able to collaborate with some of these groups, then join an independent Epilepsy Charity Affiliation allowing us to access expanded online services, find international collaborations, plus link all of our current, prior & ongoing work into a central platform (website) which was launched in March 2019.
We did this without having to gain donations, nor having to align ourselves with any corporate, government entities, nor merge with a larger foundation. We remained - and always be - fully independent.
What this means in very simple terms, is there are some rock solid things you can count on by following, sharing, supporting or donating to Brainstorming Epilepsy Festival.
- We are fully independent and our founder Stacii Floyd actively partakes in all aspects of the foundation.
- We are not aligned with any political interests, corporations, media or otherwise. Nor are we an "offshoot" of another larger charity.
- Our goals are to support Epilepsy via Awareness, Support, and smashing the myths, stigmas and misconceptions relating to our condition.
Despite this however - we are also part of the larger global Epilepsy community. We believe collaboration between independent charities is essential.
- Our international reputation and Connections to other charities from around the world means we can shed a light not just on Epilepsy in America - but around the world.
- We are supported by the largest independent Epilepsy charity affiliation in the world (ECA) so we can access services, connect with other charities globally, and have opportunities for collaborative efforts.
